Types of Radiography Used in Our Clinic

Panoramic Radiography

This is an imaging method in which the upper and lower dental arches and neighbouring tissues can be viewed on a single film, providing the dentist with an overall picture.

Periapical Radiography

These are small films that provide the image closest to the actual size of the teeth.

Bitewing Radiography

These are films used in particular to detect decay at the contact points between teeth.

Cephalometric Radiography

Used in orthodontic treatment planning, these films show the relationship of the upper and lower jaws and the teeth to the base of the skull and other tissues.

Jaw Joint Radiography

These are films used to detect problems related to the movements of the temporomandibular joint (jaw joint).

Dental Volumetric Tomography

This is a type of tomography used for the head and neck region.

The oral diagnosis and radiology clinic is where the initial examination of our patients takes place. Here, the teeth, oral mucosa, tongue and surrounding tissues are examined in detail using supplementary examination methods; an appropriate treatment plan is drawn up and referrals are made to the relevant specialities.

Panoramic and periapical radiography are used to ensure a more detailed and accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Another important aspect of the initial examination is learning the patient's current state of health and any chronic conditions. It is assessed whether the medications the patient takes regularly and any existing health problems could cause complications during the planned dental treatments.
